Save the Date: Alliance of Healthy Cities Conference 2026

The 11th Global Conference of the Alliance for Healthy Cities is coming to Australia in September 2026!

Co-hosted by UNSW Cities Institute and Healthy Cities Australia (HCA), the conference aims to advance collaboration, research translation, and policy innovation in the field of public and urban health via the WHO Healthy Cities framework.

The conference, themed “Healthy Cities for All: Equity, Innovation and Action” will bring together public health professionals, consultants, university-based researchers, Mayors, Government Officials and health teams, NGOs, NFPs and individuals working in the creation of healthy environments.

“The international network of people that will be converging in Sydney next September will help make strides in the promotion of health of the people living in cities, especially amid our global urbanisation, and really cement Australian’s involvement with the Alliance.” – Kelly Andrews

With sub-themes:
– Indigenous Worldview
– Liveable High Density & Urbanisation Challenges
– Financing & Governance for Healthy Cities
– Climate-Resilient & Age-Friendly Urban Design
– Empowering Local Leadership
,
the conference will also celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Ottawa Charter, which was developed in November 1986 at the First International Conference on Health Promotion in Ottawa, Canada.

Previous host cities include Malaysia, China, Japan and Korea, however the 2026 conference will be jointly hosted by Healthy Cities Australia and UNSW Cities Institute as a one-off.
