Play Illawarra

“What a great idea! Having everything in one place is fantastic for families. Free activities are the best, especially when money is tight, and it’s nice to get outside with the kids!”

Overview

Play Illawarra is a playground directory for Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama and Shoalhaven with a ‘What’s On’ calendar to keep up to date with free, fun, playful community based events.

Aim

Play Illawarra aims to bring communities together to play. We’re promoting outdoor active-play environments and events to build healthier, more connected communities.

Objectives

Play is a health prevention strategy and by making it easy for families as find a play space and great community events we can support communities to be connected. Connected and playful communities are healthier communities!

What’s involved

The Illawarra has over 270 playgrounds and a great range of free different events for all ages. This puts them all in one spot for communities to access and encourage connection and play within the Illawarra and Shoalhaven.

How it works

Check out playillawarra.com.au to find a local event / playground near you! Organisations or community groups of any size can also submit their events to be listed and increase awareness of their services in the community.

Testimonial

“It’s the school holidays and normally I would be at home trying to do some work and getting frustrated with the kids but instead my friend told me about this event and now I’m sitting outside playing board games in this beautiful playground realising how much I really love my kids. It’s been great for them and for me”
