Age Friendly Illawarra
Age Friendly Illawarra is an alliance that aims to create opportunities for older people to lead active, engaged lives and contribute positively to Illawarra communities.
They drive improvements to social, civic and employment participation by Illawarra seniors, as well as access to transport, housing and support services.
Healthy City Illawarra is one of six member organisations of Age Friendly Illawarra. Other members include:
- Edmiston Jones
- Age Matters, an initiative of IRT Group
- University of Wollongong
- Warrigal Care
Age Friendly Illawarra joined the Illawarra Shoalhaven region to the WHO Global Network for age-friendly Cities and Communities in 2018. Through community consultation, an implementation plan was developed.
Age Friendly Illawarra has developed several resources for the community:
- Age Friendly Establishments
- How Age Friendly Is Your Event?
- The Power Of Collaboration: A Regional Approach to Age Friendly
- An Approach to Age Friendly: Strengths or Gaps?
